Hey there. Is it just me, or is time truly moving a little faster now that we’ve stepped into August and the better part of the year is over? Feels like the week just flew past!
I almost didn’t get this letter done in time, because of work and life and stuff, but luckily I’ve managed to just squeeze it in at, literally, the 11th hour. So here I am, at midnight, putting together a list that I hope will cause a few of you to smile when you read it tomorrow (or rather, later today)!
Starting off with the most heartwarming thing I read all week. After finally getting his degree at the age of 96, in the middle of the COVID pandemic, this sweet old grandpa is officially the oldest graduate in Italy. Not only did he top his class, but he’s also planning to enroll in a Master’s course now!
Speaking of COVID (yeah, sorry), here’s an article about the Corona Quilt Project. Express yourself by creating a square, either digitally or on fabric, and send it through to the folks over at the @coronaquiltproject. They’re accepting contributions all through August; received pieces will be combined into a Corona Quilt and turned into a public art installation. Some very pretty ones on their Insta!
My friend Nupur sent me this recommendation and I love it. It’s basically like exchanging places with somebody at their window and watching the world from there. As she rightly said, it’s addictive! Let me know where you went!
Walmart did this genius thing and launched a pop-up drive-in movie theatre experience, covering 160 cities in the US. These will be free movie shows in Walmart store parking lots, with visitors watching from their own cars and using car radios for audio. The list of movies includes Wonder Woman, Black Panther, The Wizard of Oz, and other family-friendly hits. Random checks on the site seem to indicate that everything is already sold out.
Scientists have proved what I’ve been saying for years - Excel can complicate life! Apparently, its easier to rename human genes than to deal with MS Excel’s auto-formatting :-D
I’m watching
Doc Martin on Netflix. I really do enjoy British shows, especially comedies, a whole lot more than American ones. Got any suggestions for me?
That’s it for this week. Write back and tell me what you liked in today’s letter. Or didn’t like. Or send recommendations of what to share next week!
Till next time, keep the faith!
Love
Neha
