Good morning and welcome to the almost-weekend! How was your week? Or is that a question one doesn’t ask nowadays?
Ok, moving to more pleasant subjects! I had some cool teachers growing up, but I’d say that this School Principal is the coolest I’ve ever seen, by far. What do you think? Even MC Hammer gave him a shoutout!
Speaking of educators, college professors these days are dealing with a lot more by way of excuses than the traditional “the dog ate it” or “we didn’t have electricity”. Apparently, meatballs are not to be trusted.
Another professor and food story comes out of the University of Cambridge. Prof. Bill Sutherland, with some free time on his hands during the Lockdown, recreated four ancient Babylonian recipes first found on a stone tablet in Mesopotamia. The meal comprised of lamb stew, leek and garlic “unwinding”, a spiced meat dish called tuh’u, and something called Elamite broth - with modern tomato ketchup being substituted for sheep’s blood.
Back in the modern world, a pair of very cute grandparents! This Taiwanese couple, both in their 80’s, owns a laundry service and started an Instagram page modelling clothes left behind by forgetful customers. With just 25 posts so far, they’ve gained 622k followers with their killer style and cheerful posts. Go check them out!
If you enjoy stargazing, watch out for the Perseid meteor shower next week. The showers have already started but will be peaking between the 11th and 13th of August. This is one of the most spectacular meteor showers you can see - at its peak, you can see up to a hundred meteors in an hour. Ideal viewing time: pre-dawn!
Next week, I’m starting a new job in an industry that is new to me. I’m looking forward to new things to do and learn. Wish me luck!
I’ll leave you with this piece on Yoga and immunity building. Kind of topical, and I can attest to the restorative effects of Pranayama.
Till next time, keep the faith!
Love
