Hey there
I’m sure you’ve had your fill of those “year that was” emails, so I won’t do that to you!
Hope you’ve had a good start to this year and it turns out to be a great one for you. I mean, yeah, 2020 kind of set the bar very low, but still!
So, having survived 2020, here is my idea for this little epistle (note how I am not calling it a plan!).
I haven’t been writing in as regularly as I should’ve. Partly because I’ve been busy with work, but also because my own interests seem to be changing. I am still trying to figure out how I can fit everything together. I’ll let you know when I’ve thought it through! Perhaps a revised letter with a broader theme?
On to this week’s noteworthy links!
Boston Dynamics released this video of their robots dancing over Christmas; I found it partly cute and partly creepy. What do you think?
The sale of lab-grown meat has been approved for the first time by any country. Singapore sees this as a way to reduce dependency on food imports. Do we need to create a new category between vegetarian and non-vegetarian?
Speaking of food, here’s a really interesting piece about the origins of the humble custard powder, and the cooks that made magic with it. I have truly enjoyed reading many of the pieces on this website.
This one is for the history buffs. Did you know that the Vikings actually got to America much before Columbus did? Read more here.
This is all I’ve got, this time. I wish you an exciting year full of the things you wanted to but could not do in 2020.
Till next time, keep the faith!
Love
Neha
